Sometimes you need just a little bit of a more hands on approach when learning about how to help someone with a mental illness or when learning coping methods yourself. Here are some our favorite programs that you could participate with. 

SWS Recovery College

Online learning, courses, & workshops

A recovery college is a place for people with mental health lived experience, carers and service providers to come together to learn from each other, share experiences, increase their understanding of mental health recovery and achieve individual aspirations and dreams. The college is open to anyone over the age of 12 years that would like to attend workshops.

They have a range of courses and workshops that help understand mental illness and how you can work through it.

Wellbeing group for Bipolar 

The Wellbeing Group is an 8-week group program focusing on psycho education, wellbeing strategies and support for people diagnosed with bipolar disorder. 


All participants need to be over the age of 18 with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder made by a mental health professional.

Participants will need a Mental Health Care Plan specifying group treatment in order to be referred to the group program. Eligible participants may be assessed by one of the psychologists in the Clinic prior to their participation in the group program.

Mental health first aid: a two-day course


For members of the public who would like to know how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or is in a mental health crisis.

The course covers: 

Depression, anxiety, psychosis, eating disorders and substance misuse

New Access

Mental Health & Wellbeing coaching

NewAccess is a free coaching program, designed to provide accessible, quality services for anyone finding it hard to manage life stress.

The program uses Low-intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy practices and aims to help people break the cycle of negative or unhelpful thoughts. 


Online & In person programs

Collaborative Care Skills Workshop for carers, friends and family

In this workshop, facilitated by qualified counsellors, you’ll develop practical skills to support your loved one with an eating disorder in their progress towards recovery.

Recovery program | Emerging
Emerging is an eight-week program that encourages and helps you to re-engage with your healthy self. It looks at positive thinking and feelings about your body and food, provides new inspiration towards wellness and gives you renewed hope for recovery from an eating disorder or body image issue.

Everymind is a leading voice on the prevention of mental ill-health and the promotion of mental health and wellbeing, through our innovative programs.

Everymind has a range of programs dedicated to reducing the impact of suicide through action focused on decreasing risk factors for suicide, and enhancing protective factors that prevent suicide and suicidal behaviour.


General Disability skill programs

Skills 4 Life is a skill-development program for teenagers with disability aged 14-17 years.  Through a diverse range of fun and educational activities, participants learn how to express their opinions, make decisions and respect others, while building their confidence and self-esteem.
